Tomato-Free Tomato Sauce

Hi Friends
Yes, you read that title correctly. :)  Due to several health issues I have to follow a very restricted diet and one of the things I can't eat is tomato products.  We often have pizza on Friday evenings, because it's something quick and easy to make.  At first I couldn't eat dairy products, but we solved that problem by using soy cheese.  But then I developed an additional health problem and could no longer have tomato products or soy products.  My husband started doing the cooking several years ago due to my poor health and he can be quite innovative.  He did some online research and came up with substitutes for both the tomato sauce and the cheese.  Here is a link to the recipe for the tomato-free tomato sauce he uses.  We freeze the extra sauce and use it as we need it.  You'll need to add any extra spices you would like to make it into pizza sauce.  This recipe is just the basic tomato sauce recipe.
For cheese on my pizza we use Daiya Mozzarella Shreds.  It's a dairy-free cheese substitute that stretches and melts like real cheese.  I enjoy this cheese in many other recipes too.  It also makes great grilled cheese sandwiches.  Here is the link to locate a store in your area that carries Daiya products.  I hope this post will help others who have restricted diets be able to eat some foods they have been missing.

Thanks for the link to the "cheese", I am a vegan and so I do not eat dairy, I love pizza and just load it with veggies and skip the cheese substitutes because I do not like most of them. I'll have to see if this one containes casen, if not I'll give it a go!

This sauce sounds good. I don't think I could get my husband to eat it though. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi Shelly! Congrats on finding a recipe that works for you, what a blessing!

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my blog about my tray for Canvas Corp and Imagsinice!

There is a little secret, if you hold your paper/photo on square to the segment, you can mark with a pencil your cut line at both intersections.

If this makes no sense, I would be happy to make a step out tips and tricks for trays post on my blog. : )

Hope you are having a wonderful week!
