Flutterbies and Happy Mail

Usually I post a Flutter By card for the challenge on Danni's Dream's on Wednesday, but Danni's challenge last week was a little bit different. She is offering blog candy. Today is the last day to enter a card, so I'm slipping in at the last minute. I had fun making this card. The "tree" is made from two different flourish stamps. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see that I stamped the flourshes a second time in Butterscotch ink to create a shadow effect. I particularly enjoy making sponged and spattered backgrounds. The heart charm appears silver in the photos, but has copper color stain on it in person.

Here's a close up photo of the stamped portion of my card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Spatter Background - My Paper Moon; 2 Flourishes - Autumn Leaves; Hello from the Heart - Hero Arts
Ink: StazOn Olive Green; Adirondack Butterscotch; Adirondack Caramel
Paper: DP - Basic Grey
Accessories: McGill Butterfly Punch; Coluzzle Circle Template; Fiskars edger Scissors; Beads; Heat Charm; Gel Pen; Ribbon

This Happy Mail came from my niece, Alison. I was thrilled to receive mail from her. Inside the card there is a story that Alison dictated for her mom to write down. She has a great imagination.
This Happy Mail came from my sister, Sheila. (Alison's mom) I was amazed to find out that Sheila drew everything on the front of the card when she was doodling with her older daughter, Mikayla. All these years we've been sisters and I never knew she could draw like that. I won't confess how many years she's been keeping that secret from me. lol

Blessings
  • A phone talk with my mom.
  • A rug I needed.
  • A fantastic day with my daughter.
  • Some much needed rain this evening.
Have a marvelous day!!!

Happy Pills

This is a fun gift to make for someone who can use some cheer. I especially like to make it for guys. It is filled with jokes that are printed out, cut into individual pieces and folded. The idea and the jokes came from the Craft Sayings site. The jokes are found on this page. You have to read through them and choose the ones you like. The rubber stamp, which I thought was perfect for this bottle label, is from Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Company. I used this drink bottle, because I thought it looked kind of like a pill bottle.

Blessings
  • My daughter has been so helpful to me this week when I've been in pain
  • Emails from friends that are uplifting
  • A new stamping magazine from my husband
Have a marvelous day!!!
Inky hugs!

Scatter Joy

This card is for the Pink and Green Challenge on My Adventures in Stamping. Pink and green is such a beautiful color combination. I just had to take part in this challenge. The only thing unusual about my card is the green textured paper. It is shimmery in person. I used Twinkling H2O's to color wash watercolor paper. The texture comes from running it through my cuttlebug using the Tiny Mosaics embossong folder. Also, the pink paper under the flower image is a textured paper, which you can't see unless you enlarge the photo. I used SCS Card Sketch 144.
Supplies:
Stamps: Unknown - the flower image is another one from a friend
Paper: Light pink & dark brown - Bazzill
Accessories: Prismacolor pencils, Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaics embossing folder, Twinkling H2O's, Rhinestones

The weather here has been just perfect lately. Around 80* with a gentle breeze. This is a picture I took from my porch swing while I was sitting out there being seranaded by a mockingbird. That gorgeous blue sky is one of my favorite things about Florida. That is a typical Florida sky, even during the winter. Isn't it beautiful?

The other night Mark grilled hamburgers out on the back porch. Later on the dogs and I heard something out on the porch. By the time I turned the outdoor light on and looked out the window our mystery visitor was gone. Whatever it was must have been pretty good sized, because it knocked a heavy plant pot off of the porch ledge and broke it. Princess sniffs all over the areas the mystery visitor touched each time she goes outside. It could have been anything from a stray cat to a raccoon. We've even had bob cats and a Florida panther out back before, but I don't think they would come up on the porch.

Blessings
  • A husband who does the shopping for me
  • Someone gave us some dried cherries. I was raised in cherry country and love cherries.
  • The dog's fence. It has improved all of our lives, both human and canine. : )
Have a magnificent day!!!

It's Flutter By Day

The air is full of pollen here and it's giving me allergy and sinus problems. My head feels swollen and ready to pop. : ) But it's a good day, because it's Flutter By Challenge Day!!!! My card is made with the Crimped Envelope Pocket Technique from Split Coast Stampers. The inspiration for my card came from Beth's card in her gallery. This picture shows the crimped pocket and the card that goes in it side by side.

Here is a rather blurred close up of the butterfly. But you can see that the antennae are made of wire that I dyed black with alcohol ink. Unfortunately none of my photos show the shimmer on my butterfly. But as I've said before, stamping is my love, not photograhy. : )

Supplies:
Stamps: Lg. Butterfly - unknown, Tiny butterfly - unknown, Flourishes - Autumn Leaves, Sentiment - Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Co.
Inks: Adirondack Lettuce, StazOn Olive Green, Studio 2 Silver Black Alcohol Ink
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Chalks, Gel pens, Prima Flowers, Beads, Ribbon, Wire, Fiskars Paper Crimper, SU Round Tab Punch
NEWS FLASH!!!! Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Co. has just come out with some great new stamps. Hurry on over and see what they have. If you're a cat lover, they have a darling cat and fun sentiments to go with it. There's something for everyone.
Blessings
  • A letter from my mom
  • A phone call from my sister with a special message
  • A flexible schedule
Have a fabuous day!!!

Reach for the stars

This is another card that I made for the Metallica Challenge. I had fun coloring this image. I used Prismacolor pencils, gel pens, Twinkling H2O's, and chalks. You have to click on the card to enlarge it to see the different mediums used. I don't know who makes this image. Once again it is an image that I received from a friend. The card is Micca stardream cardstock and so is the white cardtsock that shows through the star punches. It adds some more shimmer.
Supplies:
Stamps: Unknown
Paper: Star Paper - Little Sizzlets, Blue cardstock - Micca Stardream, Inside white cardstock - Micca Stardream
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gel Pens, Twinkling H2O's, Chalks, Fiskars Corner Punch, Star Brad

A Combined Effort

My daughter, Lydia, and I worked together on this card. She colored the image and I had the easy job of putting the card together. If you click on the image to enlarge it you can see that Lydia highlighted the trim on the clothing with different colors of metallic gel pens. When the image is enlarged, you can also see that the light turquoise layer has columns made with my Scor Pal. This card was made for a Metallica Challenge on one of my stamping groups. Something metallic had to be used on the card and ,of course, it was the frame on this card.
Supplies:
Stamps: Stamps Happen, Inc.
Ink: Jet Black StazOn
Accessories: Tombow Markers, Gel Pens, Chalk, Scor Pal, Fiskar Med. Corner Rounder
.

Blessings
  • Magnets for pain
  • A long distance call from a friend that made my day : )
  • We're having warm weather!!!!
Have a marvelous day!

Friendly Mail

My friend, Kimmie, sent me this card. Isn't it cute? I love to receive "Happy Mail". It just makes my day. I think I have some images like this that someone gave me. I'll have to look for them and make a card now that I've seen this one.
I received ALOT of happy mail when I had my neck surgery. It meant so much to me. It really helps to know others care when you're going through a hard time.

  • Spending some fun time with my daughter today
  • Medications that help my health problems
  • A good prescription drug plan

It's time to show my Flutter By Challenge card for the weekly challenge at Danni's Dreams. For today's card I used an image that a friend gave to me. It sure is a pretty image. Does anyone know who makes it? If you look closely you can see that I ran my patterned paper through the
Cuttlebug to give my card some texture. The main image is adhered with double stick adhesive tape. Be sure to visit Danni's Dreams and see the other Flutter By cards.
